Support for users of SuSE

We are now giving out computers with SuSE 10.1 installed - in the past we have used SuSE 9.3 and 10.0.   Users with older installed versions may be able to upgrade by contacting CFA for a location and time to use the install server for a complete upgrade.  If you have one of our older computers and wish to get an upgrade please email us at Computers@computers4all.org and place in the subject line "Upgrade OS request". Some one will be in contact with you shortly.

AKLUG (Alaska Linux Users Group) which an Install meeting on Friday Evenings will often give free help to those that need help with their Linux computers. For place and times please contact them on the web at aklug.org.

If you are NOT a client of Computers For All and wish to upgrade your present computer(s) to Linux We would suggest going to the AKLUG Friday night meeting. This meeting is called an "Install Fest" and there are always people there with install disks of Linux and the AKLUG members will gladly help you with the install.  Figure about an hour for a complete install including all the software you will need to use your computer.

Here are some links to games on Yahoo that will work on your Linux bases systems.

WARNING -  WARNING!!!!
"Battle of Survival"
We have discovered that a game we have supplied on most of the computers we have sent out may cause you to lose the keyboard in any user that the game is used in.  This game turns off the keyboard while running and if it end incorrectly it will not turn on the keyboard again - and once this has happened it will never turn on the keyboard again!!!  If this has already happened to you - you will probably find it much easier to create a new user and move your data to it  than try to fix it yourself. This seems to be affecting only systems running SuSE 10.1 as the older version of SuSE were shipped with an older version of this game that did not have this problem.
